Who We Are and What We Do

Welcome to The For the City Network! We want to take the opportunity to introduce ourselves and give a brief overview of our mission.

The For the City Network maximizes efforts to renew Austin by creating a funnel for volunteer engagement and a platform for organizational collaboration. Our goal is to simplify the process of getting involved in one or more of our areas of focus – Education, Family & Community Life, Healthcare, Housing and Job Training - through partnerships with like-minded organizations such as nonprofits, neighborhood associations, churches and businesses.

We began in January 2009 as a nonprofit corporation. Now a registered 501(c)3, The For the City Network serves as a strategic leader, coordinator and advocate for city renewal.

Here is a brief overview of The For the City Network’s primary initiatives:

  • Mobilize and equip volunteers – With a direct line to thousands of local volunteers, we connect them to partner organizations and train them in order to best meet the needs of the city.
  • Coordinate collaborative partnerships – By facilitating partnerships among organizations, individuals and corporations, we are able to leverage others’ strengths to create synergy and make the most of available resources.
  • Influence and cast vision for improvement – By promoting the efforts of partner organizations and in-house initiatives, we can generate increased momentum in order to have a greater overall effect.
  • Meet diverse needs – We will continually seek to meet needs within our city and provide a network of effective resources for families and individuals.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about who we are and what we do. If you would like to get involved with The For the City Network or have any questions, please visit our Act page or email us.
